A Million Minds Matter in Wales

Help Us Make Wales a Mindful Nation

It is estimated that three children in every average sized classroom in Wales will have a mental health issue. By the age of 14, half of all mental health problems have begun to develop.

To stem the flow, we need a step change. As stated in Mind over Matter, the National Assembly for Wales’ Children, Young People and Education Committee report 2018, we need to equip our children with the skills, confidence and tools to be emotionally resilient. We need to intervene much earlier, addressing the seeds of distress before they take root.

Mindfulness has been shown to improve mental health and promote wellbeing and resilience in children, and is already being enthusiastically introduced in a number of schools in Wales.

The increasing interest, and the weight of evidence for the benefits of high quality mindfulness-based approaches means that we can harness the energy of exciting changes to the curriculum in Wales to establish mindfulness as part of a lifelong toolkit for school communities which will help them flourish.

Raising funds will enable more schools to access mindfulness to improve the mental health and wellbeing of this and future generations of schoolchildren. Please help us to reach as many children in Wales as possible.
