To train to teach mindfulness to 11-18 year olds

Mindfulness Matters Australia is pleased to offer the Teach .b course. We will demonstrate the lessons in real-time, explore the pedagogy of the .b curriculum, and share our experience of teaching .b in the classroom. Participants will also have the opportunity to practise teaching the key exercises to one another, in order to leave feeling confident and empowered to teach the curriculum to young people (aged 11-18: upper primary and secondary school).

PLEASE NOTE: The Teach .b course involves training to teach the curriculum to pupils, but not to provide any form of teacher training for adults (i.e. training others to teach the .b course). For more details about this course, please click here.

The course fee of AUD$1795 will include tuition, lunch, and refreshments for 4 days. Most training days will start with a period of mindfulness sitting at 9.00am and conclude at 5.30pm; registration will begin at 9.30am on Monday morning and our final day will conclude by 3:00 pm. Please note participants who want full certification must attend each lesson and stay through our final session.

About the instructor:

Founder and director of Mindfulness Matters Australia and Australian Partner to the Mindfulness in Schools Project, Jean Watson has been a professional school teacher and senior leader in education for more than 30 years. Jean has worked in a range of secondary and tertiary institutions and has taught mindfulness for many years to teachers, students, parents, support staff and the general public. She has completed a Masters’ Degree at Oxford University in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and since then she has delivered .b  courses, .b  Foundation courses, Paws b , Frantic World Mindfulness courses  and MBCT courses to hundreds of participants. Jean is currently developing and delivering courses in Australia which are based on the foundational principles of MBCT  and the .b  program and are also directly linked the focus and linked outcomes of the NSW School Curriculum. She has developed the three -year Infant Mindfulness Program in Australia for 4-7 year olds which leads onto Paws b  and the Teach .b  curriculum.
