Make it Your Own (MiYO) Guidelines

Adapting the .b and Paws b curricula

Guidelines for using the editable PowerPoints

Use the original curriculum as a framework for your teaching not a set of rules from which you must not deviate.

1 – Teach the course as it is structurally a few times to improve familiarity with the learning and deepen understanding of the intentions of the course. We would expect you to do what you would do with teaching any other subject and share relevant examples with your students that you think would be most helpful for them.

2 – Once you begin to adapt the structure of the lessons so that it works better for your students, continue to stay true to the intentions for the lesson – look at the Lesson Flow page and ensure that the lesson is recognisably Paws b/.b.

3 – Feel free to take away examples that aren’t relevant for your students.

4 – Feel free to use the blank slides to add examples that are relevant for your students.

5 – Trust your practice to support you in making your teaching responsive to your students’ needs.

6 – If things aren’t working, change them, don’t stick rigidly to the wording or examples given in the curriculum.

7 – Experiment with teaching without the presentations.

8 – Take sessions outside.
