Mindfulness in Schools Project’s (MiSP’s) charitable aim is to bring mindfulness to young people and those who care for them. Our goal is to improve the lives of a generation of children and young people by making a genuine, positive difference to their mental health and wellbeing.
To further these aims, MiSP can offer financial support via its Supported Places scheme on the following UK teacher training courses:
.begin
A Supported Place on a .begin course will be automatically offered to all those working or volunteering in a state-funded school in the UK. A Supported Place on .begin will cost £175 per person which is a reduction on the standard fee of £225 . There is no limit on the number of Supported Places per school. For .begin, you do not need to complete the Supported Place Application form below.
If you work for a local education authority or charity you may also be eligible for a supported place on a .begin course.
Teach dots, Teach Paws b, Teach .b and Teach The Present
A Supported Place may be offered on these courses to teachers employed in state-funded schools in the UK where at least one of the following applies:
- above the national average number of Pupils receiving Free School Meals or Pupil Premium (or equivalent)
- above the national average number of Pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL)
- above the national average number of Pupils with SEN / ALN support
- the school is situated in a Rural Town, Village or Hamlet.
The funding we offer ranges from 25% to 100% of the course fee depending on these figures. MiSP will evaluate data supplied against Government published figures for each school. MiSP reserves the right to request formal evidence to support an application where figures supplied differ from those published.
Once trained the teacher will receive fully funded membership to MiSP’s trained teacher Hub while at the school.
Teach .breathe
Applications will be assessed based on the same criteria as above. If approved, a discount of £25 will be awarded. A Supported Place on Teach .breathe will cost £200 per person , which is a reduction on the standard fee of £225. There is no limit on the number of Supported Places per school.
Once trained the teacher will receive fully funded membership to MiSP’s trained teacher Hub while at the school.
School Mindfulness Lead
Applications will be assessed based on the same criteria as Teach dots, Teach Paws b and Teach .b above. If approved, 25% of the course fee will be funded by MiSP.

How to Apply
To apply for a Supported Place, please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully and ask a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the School to complete the Supported Place Application Form below. The application must not be completed by the person wanting to take the Supported Place.
Supported Places for Local Authorities or Charities
If you work for a local education authority or charity you may also be eligible for a Supported Place. Your organisation will need to demonstrate that they will be reaching young people from disadvantaged background. Please read the Terms and Conditions and ask a Senior Manager in your organisation to complete the request form below.
Terms and Conditions for a supported place on a Teach .breathe, Teach dots, Teach Paws b, Teach .b or School Mindfulness Lead course
- A request for a Supported Place must be made by a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the school or organisation not the person wanting to train.
- Only one Supported Place for either Teach dots, Teach Paws b, Teach .b, Teach The Present or School Mindfulness Lead training will be allocated to a school/organisation per academic year and this training must be completed within 12 months of the place being offered. Please note that supported places are limited on each course. There is no limit on Supported Places awarded per setting or per course for .begin or Teach .breathe.
- The employee of the school that takes up the Supported Place will NOT then charge for delivering the .b, Paws b, dots, The Present, .breathe or .b Foundations course.
- The offer of a Supported Place will be considered for schools who have above average numbers of pupils receiving Free School Meals, Pupil Premium, with English as an additional language, or receiving SEN/ ALN support. Schools situated in a Rural Town, Village or Hamlet will also be considered.
- MiSP will issue a Supported Place code to the school should it be successful in their request. This code is to be used by the school employee who takes up the place on their course application form.
- The nominated teacher in the school needs to apply in the usual way to the course of their choosing and will be asked for the code in the application process. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis, the first choice course may not be available. Please do not book travel or accommodation before being offered a place.
- The teacher applying to take up the Supported Place needs to satisfy the usual prerequisites for the course and accept the standard Terms and Conditions for the training course and for teaching the MiSP course to the young people.
- Free membership of the Hub will be awarded along with the Supported Place for as long as the teacher taking up that course remains at the school. MiSP undertakes an annual audit of Supported Place Hub membership.
- In accepting a Supported Place, the teacher and school agrees to provide information on delivery of the curriculum on request. For example, numbers of pupils trained each year.
- MiSP provides information to the public about Supported Places. In accepting a Supported Place, the school authorises publication of its name as a recipient of a MiSP Supported Place.
NB: Supported places are limited on each course and are allocated on a first come, first served basis, your first choice course may not therefore be available.
