The School Mindfulness Lead course prepares experienced .b / Paws b / dots teachers in schools to lead colleagues in the .b Foundations introductory session and 8-session curriculum, but also to become a ‘mindfulness lead’ within the school or educational group in which they are employed. For more information about this course click here.

Although this is delivered online, this course does not train you to deliver the .b Foundations course online, but this training will enable you to deliver the .b Foundations course to staff face-to-face within the safeguarded environment of your school or group of schools. The course does not equip teachers to become external providers of mindfulness training to organisations other than the school(s) in which they are employed or with which they have an ongoing relationship. For example, a teacher or leader working within a group or consortium of schools or academy chain, with which they have regular contact and with whom they would have ongoing input would meet these criteria. However, someone hoping to work in schools or groups of schools as an external and independent provider of adult mindfulness training would not. The training does not equip you with the skills to teach mindfulness to adults generally but is a specialist training developed for teachers within schools. Please note: This course does not train you to teach others to deliver the .b, Paws b or dots curriculum.

This is an ONLINE course but the intention is to make it as retreat-like as possible.  Each day will include formal “Sit” sessions, during which there will be an opportunity to deepen your own mindfulness practice, as well as training sessions on how to teach .b Foundations.

The training will run from Sunday 13th April 2025 at 2pm and concludes on Friday 18th April 2025 at 4pm.

The course begins promptly on Sunday 13th April 2025 at 2pm

The trainers will open the Zoom room at 1.45pm on Sunday 7th April to ensure everyone is ready to start the training promptly at 2pm. Please note that full attendance of all training sessions are required to successfully complete this course.

However, there may be some flexibility around attending the group practice sessions, depending on time zones. Please email enquiries@mindfulnessinschools.org to find out more.

  1. All slides for use during SML lessons are available in both PC and Mac-friendly PowerPoint Slide Show (.ppsx) formats. In order to use these slides, you will need to have access to PowerPoint 2013. Please therefore check in advance that you have access to PowerPoint via Mac or PC via your own laptop and/or at the school/organisation where you will be teaching the lessons. Unfortunately, the PowerPoint Slide Show format will not play on Chromebooks or other systems using Google slides.
  2. We require full attendance on all aspects of the course in order for participants to receive final certification to teach our curricula and related access to all teaching materials via our Hub. This means attending every session on each training day. If a participant misses any aspect of the course due to illness or an emergency situation, will review the situation on a case by case basis. If we are able to offer catch-up sessions we may require an additional fee to be paid to MiSP for the trainer’s time.
  3. For those planning to teach this curriculum in a language other than English, please make sure you check our Translations web page to see which versions are currently available. If you have further queries please email support@mindfulnessinschools.org

As an online course, it is crucial that you ensure that you attend the training …

  1. In a quiet space where you will not be interrupted, and not sharing a laptop or being in the same room as someone else attending the course (this is to avoid audio feedback issues).
  2. Having checked all technology is working to a quality that allows for full engagement with the taught course. It is the individual’s responsibility to ensure that the technical requirements are working in advance of this course.
  3. Please note that you are required to have your camera switched on, unless advised otherwise during the course (e.g. during lunch breaks).
  4. Using a PC/laptop/Mac with reasonable broadband and a webcam. Each lesson will take place on Zoom. If you have reasonable broadband then it should work, but an exact list of the technical requirements for Zoom can be found on their website if you want to check. You cannot join the course using a mobile device or tablet as these may have limited functionality when using Zoom.
  5. Take part in the training as you would if the course was happening with everyone in the same room. This means stepping away from distractions (technology, work commitments etc.), and fully committed to engaging in all taught sessions and activities.

N.B. If you have no alternative but to attend the course from your workplace, please ensure that your colleagues understand that you will not be available for work-related tasks or responsibilities such as supervising students or attending meetings.
