Here at MiSP we are happy to signpost organisations which share our values of providing mindfulness to children and young people with integrity and authenticity.
Inward Bound Mindfulness Education UK (iBme UK) is part of a 30-year lineage of mindfulness retreats for young people that began in the US. Now in their 3rd year, we asked UK Executive Director Jem Shackleford to tell us more about this summer’s retreat.
“We will hold our third iBme UK mindfulness retreat for young people from 28th July to 2nd August. The previous two were a great success with many young people (and staff) returning for their third retreat.
iBme UK retreats help young people thrive through deepening (and possibly establishing) mindfulness practice. Through sitting, walking, movement and relational practices (as well as small group work and afternoon activities) we help to guide young people in developing self-awareness, compassion, and ethical decision-making, while empowering them to apply these skills to improve their lives and communities.
Our retreats have a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion, bringing together young people who might not meet otherwise, in an environment of non-judgement, authenticity and trust. This is achieved by using a unique fee structure based on 1% of household income. We subsidise places for those who would like to come but not otherwise have been able to participate in this transformational experience. No young person is turned away due to lack of funds.”
iBme UK have a few places left for this year’s retreat and you can find more information or make a booking here.
