Join Emily on the Great Run

by Emily Brierley – MiSP Youth Ambassador

It was such an honour and privilege to be asked to be MiSP’s first Youth Ambassador, after this year’s conference. This role is still in its infancy, yet I have had some wonderful opportunities already to raise awareness of the importance of mindfulness for children, the vital role MiSP plays in educating children in mindfulness and the need to raise funds for the ‘A Million Minds Matters Appeal’ .

These opportunities have included:

  • Being interviewed for BBC Radio Leeds Breakfast show
  • Appearing as a special guest on BBC Radio Leeds ‘The Scene’ show with Oli Woodcock
  • Interviewed and also filmed leading a meditation at my sixth form college for BBC Look North’s main evening news
  • Being featured on BBC Radio One‘s Life Hacks podcast
  • Training as MiSP’s youngest .b teacher

I will also be teaching the first .b mindfulness 10 week course at my sixth form college this Autumn, and have just gained approval for it to form part of our colleges enrichment pro-gram from January 2020!

Alongside my aim to extend my experience of mindfulness to as many young people as I can and really be the light that enables others to shine too, I have set up a just giving page – justgiving/emilybrierley, to raise £3,600 to help reach out to 1,000 children with MiSP’s mindfulness programs.

So here’s my plea to you:  I am looking for MiSP ambassadors and patrons, supporters of MiSP and any MiSP trained teachers to join me in my fund raising for the ‘A Million Minds Matters Appeal’ and run the Great Manchester Run 10K with me on Sunday 24th May 2020. Entries are now open via www.greatrun.org/manchester  (10k NOT the half marathon!!) Please register in the time zone of a 1 hour target so we can all set off at the same time.

So please join me and let’s raise as much money as we can! I’m running with my dad and I’ve never run before, so if I can do it I’m sure you can too!
